The Oregon girls tennis team dropped a Badger West Conference opener to No. 5-ranked Madison Edgewood 6-1 on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Quann Park in Madison.

The Panthers’ lone win came at No. 2 singles, as freshman Kate Thorne defeated Alana Johnson 6-3, 6-1.

The Oregon duo of Katherine Stoneman and Lola Bronchetti lost to Molly Poehling and Grace Imhoff 0-6, 6-0, 6-2. The Panther pair of Stephanie Lo and Anna Johnson won seven games in a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Samantha Buchner and Katie Kohls.

At No. 1 singles, senior Ella Peotter lost to defending Division 2 state singles champion and junior Lily Olson 6-0, 6-0. Mary Jo Sommers won three games in a 6-0, 6-3 defeat against Lucy Herlitzka at No. 3 singles. 

Edgewood’s Hannah Poehling picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Hannah Poehling at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, the Crusader pair of Sydney Johnson and Jamie Johnson swept Jaqlin Jenkins and Natalie Stevenson 6-0, 6-0.
