Junior Sam Klestinski hit a 43-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter as Madison Edgewood erased a 15-point, fourth-quarter deficit to top Monroe 31-28 for the Rock Valley Conference championship on Friday, Oct. 15, at Breese Stevens Field.
Both Edgewood (9-0, 6-0) and Monroe (7-2, 6-1) came into the conference showdown with 6-0 marks in the Rock Valley standings.

A two-point conversion made it 28-21. Hartlieb then tossed a 31-yard strike to senior Came Fane with just under six minutes remaining. An extra point deadlocked the game at 28-28. After a punt, Hartlieb helped get Edgewood into field goal range as Klestinski nailed his 43-yard attempt with 1:43 left in the game.
It was the Crusaders’ first conference championship since Edgewood shared the Badger South title in 2000 with Monroe.
